The Savonlinna Opera Festival and the Nordic energy company Gasum have entered into a new partnership agreement. The agreement is a continuation to the marketing cooperation that began in 2014.

”Finland has a considerable amount of talent in opera and classical music. Together with the Savonlinna Opera Festival, we are promoting the development and internationalization of talented young opera stars. In the Finnish as well as international context, the Savonlinna Opera Festival is also a very important summer event staged in a unique setting. Safeguarding and developing a cleaner environment calls for diverse cooperation as the bridge to a carbon-neutral future is already being built today,” says Gasum Vice President for Communications Olga Väisänen.

Gasum is a Nordic gas sector expert. Together with its partners, Gasum is building a bridge towards a carbon-neutral society on land and at sea. Gasum imports natural gas to Finland and promotes the circular economy by processing waste and producing biogas and recycled nutrients in Finland and Sweden. The company offers energy for heat and power production, industry as well as road and maritime transport. Gasum is the leading supplier of biogas in the Nordic countries. The Gasum subsidiary Skangas is the leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) player in the Nordic market and supplies LNG to maritime transport, industry and heavy-duty vehicles in Finland, Sweden and Norway. The Savonlinna Opera Festival is a large festival of internationally high quality and the best-known Finnish cultural event abroad.

”The unique natural environment of the Savonlinna area and the clean water of Lake Saimaa are inseparable elements of the Opera Festival and its venue, the Olavinlinna Castle. It is therefore important for us to be able to cooperate for a cleaner environment. Gasum is a state-of-the-art company in its sector and shares the same green values that are important to us. Together we are also promoting the journey of young Finnish soloists into stardom. This summer, a considerable group of young soloists will perform at the Opera Festival. Together with our partners, we are able to provide them with work experience and new contacts on an internationally important stage. We are very happy to continue our partnership with Gasum,” says General Director of the Opera Festival Jan Strandholm

The Savonlinna Opera Festival launched a novel partnership model in 2014, with the development of Finnish knowhow, skills and creativity along with modern intersections between culture and business at the core of the model. The cooperation now launched between the Savonlinna Opera Festival and Gasum is a continuation of the previous partnership between the organizations.
