Gasum supports research and development in the area of sustainable energy economy through the Gasum Fund, which is one of the special funds of the Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion (TES).

The fund is run and administered by TES. The Gasum Fund has been providing research grants since 2005.

The application period for 2025 is now open and closes 11 February 2025.

The goal of the fund is to respond to challenges related to societal change by promoting the transition to an energy economy needed for sustainable development. Support is granted for research topics that promote a sustainable energy economy, such as:

  • biogas production
  • Power-to-Gas production
  • value chains and use of gaseous fuels
  • electricity markets
  • energy sector legislation, policy, and security

Grants are provided to post-graduate students for doctoral dissertation work. In exceptional cases, funding may also be provided for Master's theses.

Applications are submitted via the TES portal and are evaluated by the Fund's advisory committee, which includes representatives from Finnish Universities, TES as well as Gasum.
