Getinge enhances efficiency of production structure within Extended Care

Report this content

Today, Getinge has entered into negotiations with union representatives regarding the closure of Extended Care’s production plant for patient handling equipment in Gloucester, in the UK. Currently, production of patient handling equipment is conducted in three production units within the business area – in Gloucester, in Amont-Hachel Belgium, and in Magog Canada. The ambition of the future production structure is to concentrate production of active lifters to the unit in Belgium and the manufacture of passive lifters to the unit in Canada. Extended Care anticipates an annual cost saving of approximately SEK 50 M from 2007. The cost of implementing the closure will amount to approximately SEK 35 M, which will be charged against the first quarter of this year. The closure and relocations are expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
