GF Piping Systems will present sustainable flow solutions at Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale, USA.

With this year’s conference theme „Forward Momentum”, Seatrade will address the expectations of customers for the cruise industry. What answers will it give to questions concerning environmental protection, lower energy consumption, and the reduction of CO2 emissions? Swiss company GF Piping Systems is joining the discussion and is already presenting short and long-term solutions for the cruise industry of tomorrow.

The various piping systems on board cruise ships often have a combined length of several hundred kilometers and fulfill important functions such as transporting cooled fluids used for air conditioning, supplying water, or managing wastewater. Traditionally, these systems are often made of metal which has a number of disadvantages. The material is heavy, complicated to handle, and susceptible to corrosion. At Seatrade Cruise, GF Piping Systems will show why plastic flow solutions are a far more sustainable option compared to conventional metal products:

  • COOL-FIT, a system that is completely pre-insulated at the factory, is designed as a lighter and more durable alternative to post-insulated systems for refrigeration plants and features an environmental product declaration (EPD).
  • SeaDrain White drainage piping system is developed and produced in the USA and has been certified by ABS, DNV-GL, Lloyd’s Register, and RINA. It has also been certified by NSF.
  • The Butterfly Valve 565 is the first industrial butterfly valve with an EPD: The environmental impacts of the plastic valve are 30% lower compared to a metal valve.

Roberto Chiesa, Head of Business Development Marine at GF Piping Systems, looks forward to discussions on the future of the cruise industry at Seatrade 2023: “Now more than ever, we must contribute to the optimization of the maritime industry and support the achievement of emissions targets. At GF Piping Systems, we are aware that our innovative plastic piping systems can be an important part of the solution. True to our motto: Everything is connected!”

The cruise industry is currently experiencing an upward trend and is optimistic because it already has solutions for a more sustainable future. As a leading provider of flow solutions, GF Piping Systems is focused on making the maritime industry cleaner and more environmentally friendly with the help of lightweight, corrosion-free plastic piping systems, and therefore meeting the global challenge of decarbonization.
