    JHLT-recognised ABO-incompatible paediatric transplant study

    Glycorex notes that a peer-reviewed scientific publication(1) on ABO-incompatible (ABOi) paediatric heart transplantation, conducted last year by Hollis et al. at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), London, has been selected by the editorial board of the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation (JHLT) as one of the journal’s top five most impactful papers of 2025. The study retrospectively analysed paediatric heart transplants performed at GOSH between 2013 and 2023 and focuses on children aged 2–9 years undergoing ABO-incompatible heart transplantation.     Glycorex Transplantation AB (publ) announces that the first ABO-incompatible transplantation after treatment using the company’s product, Glycosorb® ABO, has recently been performed in Portugal.The transplantation was a living donor kidney transplantation, which is the primary application of Glycosorb® ABO. However, the product is increasingly being used to enable ABO-incompatible transplants of other organs, such as the liver and heart. In 2023, more than 70 kidney transplants from living donors were performed in Portugal - a figure comparable to Denmark and nearly twice that of Norway.

    As previously announced, a blood bank in Norway has evaluated our transfusion product, Glycosorb® ABO (4 ml), for the preparation of low-titer blood group O platelet concentrate with positive results.     Published study from the US shows promising results on the use of Glycosorb® ABO to provide low-titer group O whole blood

    The first pilot study on the use of Glycosorb® ABO for reducing anti-A/B antibody titers in blood group O whole blood has been published. The study was conducted at the University of Rochester, US. The use of Glycosorb® ABO effectively reduced the anti-A/B antibody titers to near zero without an increase in hemolysis. Glycosorb® ABO could be employed to provide low-titer group O whole blood reducing the need for type-specific blood which may expedite treatment and mitigate the risk of hemolysis from incompatible transfusion.     Increased sales in fourth quarter and full year. At the beginning of 2022, we were finally able to see the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and have gradually been able to accelerate our activity levels in terms of participation at fairs and congresses and, not least, by being able to have meaningful meetings with our customers.
