Extended energy collaboration between Graninge and SCA

Extended energy collaboration between Graninge and SCA Graninge AB is to lease SCA Graphic Sundsvall's CHP plant at the Östrand pulp mill in Timrå. The transaction includes total energy turnover of around 2.3 TWh, of which around 0.2 TWh of electricity. Graninge will take over usufruct rights to Östrand's soda boiler and the converted biomass boiler that is scheduled to go into operation soon, two back-pressure turbines and the related fixtures, equipment and premises. The facility is based exclusively on biomass. Graninge will buy maintenance and operating services from SCA. The agreement will not lead to any changes in personnel. In a comment from Lars Enslöf, Managing Director & CEO of Graninge, he points out that the agreement is the result of a long-standing collaboration with SCA that also led to the formation of Scaninge Timber. "In energy operations we are working hard to broaden the production base in line with our environmental profile. The agreement will give us additional electricity generation based entirely on environmentally friendly fuels."
