Närvärme Sverige acquires Graninge's district heating in northeastern Stockholm Graninge AB sells its district heating operations in northeastern Stockholm, Graninge Roslags Energi Värme AB, to Närvärme Sverige for SEK 60 million. The company is currently active in Danderyd and Åkersberga. Roslags Energi Värme has three district heating networks. The production system is based on 50 per cent oil-fired and electric boilers and there are advanced plans for a new biofuel-fired production facility in Åkersberga. Stefan Landgren, Managing Director of Närvärme Sverige AB, sees the transaction as an advantage for both parties: "Närvärme is already active in Vallentuna and Vaxholm and the operations taken over from Graninge will allow us to create a larger and more efficient unit. Besides that, the deal will lead to further offensive environmental investments in the respective municipality." Lars Enslöf, Graninge's Managing Director and CEO, is also pleased and points out that Graninge has now freed up resources for ongoing investments in electricity operations: "We are happy having found a buyer already operating in the area who can further develop the operations. The resources being freed up will be welcomed for our investments in the electricity operations, among others the acquisition of the network in Upplands Väsby."
