The Executive MBA is a part-time programme delivered in English. It is the only Executive MBA programme in Sweden that is Triple Crown-accredited, i.e. it has the three main international accreditations for business schools from AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS. Participants will meet face-to-face Thursday-Saturday every three weeks, and will graduate in June 2021.

Nordic strengths and Asian emerging markets

The programme focuses on Nordic business strengths such as innovation, sustainability and international trade, and on Asian business practices, along with consumer behaviour and culture. During two ten-day visits to Asia, participants will receive training at top-ranked universities in China and India, visit dynamic companies and interact with senior local business leaders at international companies.

“The program develops a broad spectrum of the knowledge, perspectives and tools needed in senior management positions in companies coping with an ever-increasing need for change. Throughout the programme, our participants practice their ability to reflect on new leadership skills and get to apply them in their own home organizations," comments Håkan Ericson, CEO at GU School of Executive Education.

A diverse group
The 20 participants, nine women and eleven men, have a median age of 40. Nationalities represented are Sweden, Taiwan, China, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Poland. Two participants from Belgium and Taiwan will commute internationally for each module. Participants on the programme come from a wide range of organisations who want to invest in their best talents and allow them to develop new business skills and leadership capabilities. Among the participating companies are AstraZeneca, Mindcamp, SKF, Smart Eye, We Group, Unilabs, Uhlman Nordiska and Volvo Cars.

So, what do the new participants expect from their education? Here, some of them share their thoughts at the start of the program:

Yi-Ju Wang, Export Sales Executive at Ting Fong Electric & Machinery Co. Ltd, says, "My aim with the program is to gain a better understanding about the increasingly complicated global economy and challenges, and to explore feasible solutions for the given business climate."

Fredrik Gustavsson, Production Engineering Manager at VBG Group, says, “I hope to sharpen my knowledge of strategy and international business, as well as make new contacts that I can use in my daily work at VBG Truck Equipment.”

On the programme, participants are asked for continuous feedback. In this spring's exit survey of the entire Executive MBA 2017-2019 programme, 90% of participants said they experienced increased efficiency in their job. The 2017-2019 participants particularly appreciated:

  • the academic perspective and the high standard of the lecturers.
  • the School’s active efforts with team building and the opportunity for discussions based on the participants' different perspectives and experiences.
  • the wide range of guest lecturers from both industry and other organisations.
  • the many different perspectives on the topics, including the mix of social sciences and hard facts.
  • the opportunity for profound personal development.
