Base camp – Haglöfs' new product segment for activities at the base camp

Crawling into a warm sleeping bag after a long day filled with adventure. Preparing food in the outdoors and drink fresh water straight from a mountain stream. Lighting a fire beside a tent or in a mountain cabin. This is outdoor in its essence – and examples of activities included in Haglöfs' new product segment: Base camp.

For the spring/summer of 2014 Haglöfs is introducing several new products in a completely new product segment, Base camp. Base camp is an ongoing development project that will stretch over several seasons and is one of the largest projects Haglöfs has ever undertaken. Just as its name implies, it is about equipment used in a base camp. It is about warmth and comfort, but at the same time it is an area with unlimited opportunities, covering all conceivable aspects and situations: from protected to exposed, from summer to winter, from lowlands to high altitude. It can be a one-time base for excursions and expeditions – but perhaps more often it will be a base camp that is set up and taken down every day.

The main feature in the new Base camp segment is a completely new line of sleeping bags. The sleeping bags are built around Haglöfs' considerable experience as a sleeping bag supplier and the knowledge the company has gained while developing the new generation of insulating shell garments with high-performance fabrics, down and synthetic insulation that were introduced in the fall of 2013. The sleeping bags also contain a large amount of innovation – everything down to the last detail is new.

Perseus – for big adventures
Perseus, Haglöfs' most advanced sleeping bag, was created with no holds barred in terms of material, filling or solutions. Perseus is a bluesign®-approved down sleeping bag for the ultimate adventure; for the big expedition when a really warm sleeping bag can be the difference between life and death. Perseus is manufactured with two different Pertex® fabrics that have been treated with a protective coating at the foot and head. The sleeping bag has 800 CUIN fill power goose down, which has been reinforced with a high-performance synthetic insulation (QuadFusion+) in particularly exposed areas.

Perseus is spacious enough to sleep in while still wearing an expedition suit, but at the same time it has an ergonomic cut for a close fit. It also has a centred zipper so it is possible to make breakfast or organise equipment without needing to crawl out of the sleeping bag.

Cornus – when synthetics are better than down
For damp environments, or for those who build up a lot of body moisture, a sleeping bag with synthetic insulation is a better alternative than down. Cornus is a bluesign®-approved sleeping bag with a focus on sleeping comfort: spacious but still with an ergonomic design for a good fit. Cornus is made from 100 percent recycled polyester, Pertex® Classic Eco and filled with QuadFusion+ synthetic insulation. The technical solutions include a ¼-length zipper opposite to the big zipper so it is possible to use both arms outside of the sleeping bag without having to get out of it.

Indus and Pictor – smart innovations
Mentioning all of the areas where Indus can be used is almost impossible since it can be used in so many different ways. Indus is fundamentally a bluesign®-approved blanket made from two different Pertex® fabrics and filled with synthetic insulation (QuadFusion). It functions as reinforcement for the sleeping bag when it is really cold, but it can also be used as a blanket in the tent during the heat of high summer. It can cover the floor of the tent or be used to sit on during breaks. Thanks to push buttons, the blanket can also be transformed into a reinforcement garment as a poncho or sarong. Thanks to its versatility; Indus is the perfect companion on any adventure.

Listing the Pictor Pillowcase areas of use is much easier: put a fleece in it and create a pillow, fully functional the entire night. Pictor is a pillowcase that weighs 25 grams and requires minimal space in the pack. Smart. Innovative. Simple.
