Haglöfs’ new Climatic™ pants – durability, sustainability and comfort in symbiosis

For the spring/summer of 2014, Haglöfs has completely re-designed its Climatic pant collection. The new collection is based around three core features: high durability, sustainable materials and comfort from stretch.

Haglöfs’ new Climatic collection is the result of a complete overhaul of the entire line. During this process, Haglöfs combined its extensive experience developing outdoor products with a focused development work based on the three core features Haglöfs would like its pants to be known for. The result is a totally revamped collection in everything from materials to fit and design.

Demanding goals
The goals of the development project were demanding. In order to offer true durability, the decision was made that all pants should be able to withstand at least 100,000 cycles of the Martindale test (measurement of abrasion resistance). The next step was to find materials that were bluesign®-approved – an important parameter for being able to live up to Haglöfs’ demanding sustainability goals, regardless of whether the material is recycled polyester, new nylon or organic cotton. The last stage of the development project was to find solutions that would improve comfort and pliability, for example to manage a high step without being hindered by the pants, which was resolved by using different types of stretch.

Among the 30 pants that are part of the new Climatic collection, there are also new designs, hybrids, new colours and updated fits – so that outdoor enthusiasts can choose their pants based on the activity and climate – without having to compromise.

Hybrids expand the area of use
Haglöfs’ new Climatic collection offers materials in three levels: Rugged, Mid and Lite. Each level has a hybrid, and Lite Hybrid Pant is the thinnest. It is a lightweight, quick-drying, bluesign®-approved, Trekking pant in a clean design that mixes several different types of stretch. Lite Hybrid Pant is suited for all types of outdoor activities in primarily warm, humid environments.

On the other end of the scale is Haglöfs’ probably most appreciated pant, Rugged Mountain Pant. This pant has been further developed for the spring/summer of 2014 and is now a hybrid that blends two different material principles. Rugged Mountain Pant is Haglöfs’ most durable pant, equipped with features that make it the perfect choice for the mountains or other demanding environments. And, in line with the core features around which Haglöfs Climatic pants are designed, it is extremely durable, it is bluesign®-approved and it offers high stretch comfort.
