Free Kids Bike Workshops at a Halfords Near You

A puncture, slipped chain or wobbly handlebars will be a thing of the past for cycle savvy youngsters who sign up for a free bike maintenance workshop at Halfords.

The country’s biggest cycle retailer is offering children the chance to learn basic bike repair and maintenance skills free of charge.

Each bike workshop, starting at 11am, every Wednesday in August, will last approximately an hour and is aimed at the 7-11 year olds age group.   The aim of the practical, interactive courses is to teach kids how to check that their bikes are safe to ride and even how to do some basic repairs.

The workshop will take children through the basics of things to check on their bike, including how to find and fix a puncture, how to put a chain back on and how to adjust a saddle and handlebars and also basic bike safety.

What’s more, kids come away with a certificate, a 10% discount voucher and a drawing competition to win a bike worth £250! Now that should keep them occupied for a few hours!

Community and CSR Manager Emma Thomas said: “The kid’s bike workshops introduce learning about bikes in a fun and interactive way which will hopefully develop into a life-long interest.   The sessions provide a great starting point for children and even parents, to go home and try out what they have learned together on their own bikes.”

Spaces for the workshops are limited so to avoid disappointment book online today at: www.halfords.com/bikeclub (children must be accompanied on the workshop by an adult).
