Halfords has entered into a partnership with RED Driving School in a deal that will make lessons for first time drivers more affordable.

The partnership gives new learners an exclusive 27% discount on the first four hours of lessons purchased through Halfords website www.Halfords.com/Learners as well as additional discounts when booking 10 hour and 20 hour courses.

The deal brings the UK’s largest retailer of automotive products together with one of the UK’s largest driving schools and will see the partnership promoted in all Halfords stores as well as in specific products aimed at learner drivers such as L- plates.

CEO of RED Driving School Ian McIntosh said: “Learning to drive is an important life skill and it is vital to have the best instruction. Getting your licence can be a costly process and this is why we have teamed up with Halfords to offer learners the very best tuition at an affordable price.

“Every year RED helps tens of thousands of learners to pass their test. With RED, learners have a DVSA registered driving instructor who will provide the skills learners need to be a safe and confident driver.”

Learners will also have access to RED’s unique Road Brain Trainer which is proven to boost test pass success by 14% and will be able to track their progression towards test standard with RED’s Learner Progress Log.

Halfords learner driver product manager Richard Bowen added: “Halfords is where many learner drivers begin their motoring journey - buying a copy of the Highway Code and L-plates before getting behind the wheel for the first time.

“Our partnership with RED will help lower the cost of learning to drive and hopefully build a long-term relationship between Halfords and a new generation of drivers.”

RED Driving School helped thousands of learner drivers pass their test last year with an average 35 hours of tuition required to achieve a pass. RED has a first-time pass rate of 64% - far better than the average 47.9, according to Government statistics.
