Halfords Expands Child Safety Seat Range

Leading car accessory retailer Halfords has broadened the range of child seats now available to its customers with the introduction of nine new products at a variety of prices designed to appeal to safety conscious parents.

The arrival of the new products coincide with a new in-store look for the child seat area - which is brighter, features fresh signage to make product comparisons easier and incorporates both height/weight measuring equipment to help parents identify the safest and most appropriate seats.

Emily Moulder from Halfords said: “We are committed to selling the customer the most suitable and safest seat for their child and their car at a competitive price.

“We have put a lot of effort into ensuring that our range offers plenty of choice at prices to suit every pocket and our Price Promise actively matches our competitors pricing in stores to ensure good value for money.”

Three of the new products that have been introduced are under Halfords popular own-brand Pampero – which itself now incorporates 9 models, having launched in 2011 with just 3.

Called ‘Simply Pampero’ the new products offer a lower price of entry (from just £24.99 for a Group 23 seat) to parents shopping on a budget but who still want class-leading protection for their child. At the same time, the remainder of the range has been renamed ‘Pampero Plus’ to recognise the premium features that the products incorporate and their corresponding price.

Reflecting the growing demand for a seat that will allow children to remain rearward facing for longer, Halfords has introduced a versatile Group 0+1/2 seat. The ‘Joie Stages’ allows a child to be kept rearward facing until they are 18kgs or 4 years – though it can be converted to a forward-facing Group 1 and Group 2 seat once a child weighs 9kgs if desired. The result is a unique product within the Halfords range, currently priced at £129.99, which offers maximum longevity for money.

The popularity of Halfords’ existing XP child seat from Maxi Cosi has led to the introduction of a model which sits slightly above it. The ‘Maxi Cosi Rubi’ is a Group 1 seat, currently priced at £144, which incorporates deep side impact protection wings, convenience hooks that keep the safety harness out of the way when positioning a child, and 4 recline settings for enhanced comfort.

Offering an alternative to the existing black colourway of the ‘Logico L Jet’ Group 2/3 high back booster seat from Graco, Halfords has introduced the ‘Rosie’ in vibrant pink.

The Logico L Rosie features a floral design, a headrest that adjusts for both height and width and adjustable armrests that - like the seat itself - are covered in Graco’s Pedic foam. Priced from £39.99 the Logico L Rosie Rosie offers outstanding value for money.

Sitting above the Logico L Jet and Rosie is the new ‘Assure Carbon’ from Graco. Currently priced at £52.99, this Group 2/3 high back booster seat offers optimum side impact protection for lower back and hips as well as a five-point height adjustable headrest featuring memory foam and padded armrests for comfort.

Finally, Halfords has introduced two exclusive new backless booster seats under the Little Tikes brand. Available in pink or blue, these simple and lightweight products are priced at £14.99 and sit between Halfords’ basic booster seat and Graco’s ‘City’ model.

Emily Moulder added: “Both our in-store environment and website are very easy to navigate and provide useful information to customers.

“In addition, our unrivalled team of highly trained in-store fitters can provide help and advice as well as ensuring their seat is correctly fitted before they drive away.”

Halfords is the only retailer that has fitters accredited by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and has made a long-term commitment to improving child seat safety by signing the Which? Child Seat Best Practice Charter.
