Halfords Roll-out Winning Formula for Winter Motoring

Halfords has re-launched its range of screenwash and anti-freeze to help motorists cope with  plunging winter temperatures and to keep driving through the Winter weather.

The new Screenwash range is formulated to meet customer requirements across a range of temperatures to give total coverage throughout the winter season – providing protection from -5oC through to -30oC. Halfords have also introduced the fragrances Berry, Citrus and Cherry which provide a pleasant alternative to the more traditional aroma of a screenwash.

In addition, the screenwash is now infused with the world’s bitterest substance ‘Bitrex’. The addition of ‘Bitrex’ helps safeguard against accidental ingestion and will give consumers with children and pets more peace of mind. Addition of the bittering agent is easily identifiable on the packaging with the Halfords specific logo ‘Helping Protect Families’.

Halfords has also introduced a customer reference guide to Anti-freeze. This reflects car manufacturers’ move towards vehicle specific protection. The reference is available both in-store and online and will help drivers identify the right anti-freeze for their vehicle and avoid a potentially expensive error.

Commenting on the changes, Halfords Product Manager Louise Robinson said: “We recognise that buying screenwash or anti-freeze isn’t something people give a great deal of thought to but customers need to be provided with the information to make an informed decision.

“Some retailers’ screenwash freezes just below zero for example, which is potentially dangerous when the temperature drops.

“Whilst anti-freeze is now as vehicle specific as oil, selecting the wrong product can cause engine damage and invalidate your warranty.”

Halfords new packaging for both screenwash and anti-freeze feature the windscreen wiper and thermometer icons that are easily recognisable on cars dashboards and underneath the bonnet this helps consumers select the right product in-store and confidently identify where to top-up their fluids.
