INNOVATIVE PROJECT HOOKS NATIONAL RETAIL PARTNER
Cyclists may not have heard of Interlock – yet, but that’s all about to change! The innovative project saw entrepreneur and inventor Adrian Solgaard develop a cable lock that was integrated and housed in a seat post. The crowd funded project has now become a reality and is available from the country’s largest bike retailer at Halfords.com.
The lock uses two 20” 8mm braded steel cables encased in thick vinyl jackets. When not in use the cables slide neatly inside the seat post and are contained safely there with just the locking mechanism exposed, sitting neatly under the saddle. They can easily be drawn out, looped around the rear wheel and locked with a pin locking mechanism, securing both the wheel and frame. Just like every bike lock, the lock needs to be run through the frame to effectively secure the bike.
The lock is perfect in high-visibility areas as a primary lock and in high risk areas alongside a D-Lock for ultimate security, securing both wheels to a bike rack. Adrian explains: “If the lock is integrated into your bike you’ll never be without it. So if you’re just nipping out to buy some milk or grab a coffee you won’t have that horrendous ‘neck-straining’ moment when you’re doing your shopping whilst trying never to lose sight of your bike. It is the perfect invention to prevent the opportunistic thief!”
Inspiration for the project came when Adrian had his own bike stolen and he knew there had to be a way that locking up a bicycle could be made easier and more convenient.

We love Adrian’s approach and we’ll even fit it to customers’ bikes, swapping out their existing seat tubes. It is easy to use and offers a secure solution for locking up a bike or using with an existing U-Bolt lock to secure the saddle and back wheel.
