Stunning New Addition to Victoria Pendleton Cycle Range

Queen of the velodrome Victoria Pendleton is making her mark on the cycle design world with the release of the latest model in her best-selling women’s range for Halfords.

The new Pendleton Ashwell has a traditional step through frame and upright riding position. Its classic retro-styling is highlighted by glossy black paint-work, cream tyres and a padded and sprung tan-coloured saddle with matching handgrips.

A compact luggage rack, optional wicker basket, mud guards and full chain guard to protect the riders clothing, complete the look of this elegant and dependable ride. The alloy frame makes it lighter than the classic women’s bikes of yester-year and the Sturmey Archer 5-speed hub gearing is reliable and easy to maintain.

“Everyone knows I am passionate about cycling,” said Victoria Pendleton, “and I want to encourage as many women as I can back onto their bikes which is why I am so proud of the fact that my classic bikes are for everyday women. You don’t have to wriggle into lycra to ride them and they are perfect for nipping down to the shops or a ride around town or countryside, with friends.”

First introduced in spring last year, the Pendleton range was an instant hit and broke sales-records, becoming the best-selling-ever women’s range in Halfords 120 year history.

The most popular model so far has been the baby-blue and cream Somerby, another traditionally-styled cycle with an air of nostalgia about it.

Earlier this month two limited edition Somerbys were released in new colours, pearl white and bright red. They boast the same signature step-through frame, tan sprung saddle, matching handgrips and chain guard of the original, with an optional wicker basket.

Halfords Head of Cycling, Karen Bellairs, said: “Victoria has always said that she wanted to create bikes that were accessible to ordinary woman, but with an emphasis on elegance and style. I am delighted to be able to say that she has certainly achieved that with her Pendleton range which is going from strength to strength with the addition of the Ashwell and the limited edition Somerbys.”

The Pendleton Ashwell is available online and in store priced at £329.99. The Pendleton Somerby Limited Edition in white or red, is also available online and in store priced at £279.99.

The bikes are also eligible for free in-store build and inspection as well as a free 6 week first service.
