Think big bikes for kids this Christmas at Halfords
- Popular in the US
- Monster truck on wheels with 4.25 inch tyres
- £199 Kid’s Fat Bike set to become Christmas must-have
Give the gift everyone will be talking about this Christmas with the launch of the INDI Mulefa Fat Bike, designed for trend-setting 7-9 year olds.
The bright red INDI Mulefa Fat Bike is on sale for £199. The bike has 4.25 inch wide tyres, an oversized frame, large forks, large stays and is sure to stand out from the crowd. It is available online only but can be delivered to store, built and stored ready for collection at Christmas
Fat Bikes are fast becoming the latest must-have for adventurous cyclists and have been inspired by extreme cyclists from the US who use bespoke wider tyres on mountain bikes to tackle sub-Arctic and sandy conditions.
With tyres that are slicker than normal the INDI has been adapted for tackling the UK’s streets rather than snowy or sandy terrain. It is topped off with front and rear v-brakes to ensure you come to a safe stop, and its six speed gears will see you up the steepest of hills.
Halfords’ Matt Banks says: “Fat Bikes used to be the preserve of extreme sports fans and we are delighted to bring this trend to our customers in time for Christmas.
“The popularity of Fat Bikes has increased over the last few years and we predict the INDI Mulefa will be really popular. It’s like a monster truck on two wheels, and opens up a brand new world to kids.”
Fat Bikes were born in 1987 when Simon Rakower modified his bike with extra wide rims for a 160 mile bike race across Alaska. Since then popularity has soared, with the Global Fat Bike Summit reporting double sales for 2012-2013.
