    Swedish purchasing power trumps tariff threats

    Despite the uncertain global outlook, the conditions for a recovery in the Swedish economy are in place, according to Handelsbanken's latest global macro forecast. The increase in income among Swedes is sufficient for both more savings and higher consumption. "Fiscal policy is expansionary.     Divestment of private and life insurance operations in Finland finalised

    On 31 May 2023 Handelsbanken entered into an agreement to divest the private and life insurance operations in Finland. The divestments have now been completed and the operations have been transferred to S-bank Abp and Fenni Life Insurance, respectively. The transactions included lending volumes of approximately EUR 2.5 billion (SEK 28 billion), corresponding to a risk weighted exposure amount of approximately EUR 1.0 billion (SEK 11 billion), as well as deposit volumes of approximately EUR 0.9 billion (SEK 10 billion) and total assets under management of approximately EUR 2.0 billion (

    Households win – higher wages, lower interest rates and tax cuts

    What policy rate is required to keep inflation in check and soft land the economy?In Handelsbanken's new economic forecast, the bank's economists expect gradual rate cuts towards a neutral long-term level of around 2.25 percent, reached in the first half of 2025. Policy rate cuts, together with real wage increases and lower taxes, mean that households are taking the lead in the recovery.     Divestment of SME operations in Finland finalised

    May 31 2023 Handelsbanken entered into an agreement to divest the private, life insurance and SME operations in Finland. The divestment of the SME operations has now been completed and the operations have been transferred to Oma Sparbank Abp. The transaction includes lending volumes of approximately EUR 500 million, corresponding to a risk weighted exposure amount of approximately EUR 170 million, and deposit volumes of approximately EUR 440 million.     Anton Romare Keller has been appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO). Anton Romare Keller is currently Head of Handelsbanken Markets. He will officially start his new role on 1 August, and will, in this position, be a member of Handelsbanken’s Executive Team. Mr Keller will succeed Mattias Forsberg, who is leaving the Bank. “Anton’s distinct customer and business-oriented leadership capabilities will put us in an excellent position as we now focus on accentuating value creation in the Bank’s digital development activities – as always, based on our customers’ needs and expectations.
