Highest average returns for Handelsbanken’s occupational pension customers over the past ten years

Handelsbanken Liv’s fund portfolios have delivered the highest average returns over the past ten years for both individual and collective agreement occupational pensions, according to a new summary published by consumer organisation Konsumenternas. According to the same summary, Handelsbanken Liv also leads the rest of the field for the last five-year period.

“Pension savings is often a long-term undertaking, which is why it feels particularly rewarding to have been able to provide our customers with such high returns over an extended period of time. We collaborate with leading fund management companies and asset managers, and carry out thorough analyses prior to selecting funds for our portfolios. The factors behind our success include stringent sustainability requirements, for example by excluding fossil-fuel based energy and actively selecting sustainable alternatives,” explains Martin Björgell, product manager at Handelsbanken Liv.

Highest returns for Handelsbanken Liv’s standard portfolio

Konsumenternas is an independent service, provided free of charge, which publishes comparisons of insurance, bank and pension products. Every year, it presents a summary of the historical returns for individual occupational pensions for all pension companies, with the help of a standard portfolio. The standard portfolio consists of the fund with the lowest cost from four common fund categories – Global funds, Sweden funds, Mixed funds and Fixed income funds – from each of the company’s selection of funds.

“I am delighted that Handelsbanken’s customers have been able to enjoy the highest returns from their occupational pensions over the past ten years, as this can result in several thousand kronor more in pension every month. The standard portfolio demonstrates that our selection of funds comprises solid funds in several categories, combining low fees and high returns,” says Martin Björgell.

Handelsbanken Liv’s standard portfolio consists of four mutual funds from Handelsbanken Fonder. The comparison from Konsumenternas shows that it has yielded the highest average returns for both the past five-year period and the past ten-year period, as well as the second highest average returns for the past three-year period.

High returns also achieved for collective agreement occupational pensions

The comparison from Konsumenternas also shows that Handelsbanken Liv’s default solutions for collectively agreed occupational pensions have yielded similarly positive results compared to other pension companies. A default solution is the pre-selected investment alternative which the insurance company offers people who do not make an active choice of fund. The heading “No selection made” in the summary refers to the company offered to people who have not made an active choice in accordance with the agreement with the parties on the labour market.
