The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg strengthens its position amongst the world’s business schools
The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, has received a third international accreditation (AACSB). It thus becomes the only business school in Sweden that is what is popularly referred to as “Triple Crown” accredited. Such accreditation is held by only 0.5% of the world’s business schools. The members of this exclusive group have successfully come through the three severest quality examinations in the business-school world. London Business School, Antai at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Copenhagen Business School are amongst the holders.
“We are pleased and proud to be putting Sweden on the educational map and strengthening our collaborations with other international business schools,” comments Per Cramér, Dean of the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
There are currently just over 70 business schools worldwide with the three most prestigious international accreditations, i.e. AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. These schools are usually referred to as “Triple Crown” accredited.
“Sweden’s and Gothenburg’s reputations as interesting places to live and study in are strengthened by the School of Business, Economics and Law gaining this distinction. In both the short and the long term, it will help us attract highly qualified manpower to Volvo in the Gothenburg region,” states Kerstin Renard, Executive Vice President, Group Human Resources, Volvo Group.
Accreditations are the most important way of comparing the quality of research, education and collaborations at business schools around the world.
“The fact that the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg has strengthened its position as a global university is important to Swedish industry. The ‘Triple Crown’ accreditation will attract the world’s ‘top brass’ to Gothenburg, making it even more relevant in research and as a base for recruitment,” says Alrik Danielson, president and CEO of SKF.
“Triple Crown” accreditation for a business school increases attractiveness in connection with recruiting the most accomplished faculty members and the most capable students. It also enhances the opportunities for international collaborations with other business schools and working closely with the business world.
“Triple Crown” in brief
Of approximately 13,000 business schools worldwide, around 70 have managed to gain the three most sought-after international accreditations – AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. Business schools with all three accreditations thus make up only 0.5% of the total. They are popularly referred to as “Triple Crown” accredited.
“Triple Crown” is proof that a school’s research, courses, programmes and collaborations maintain a high quality. The accreditation processes themselves are a tool for continuous quality improvement. The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg is the only “Triple Crown” accredited business school in Sweden.
