Wednesday 24 June, 2009; Le Mans 24 Hours winner David Brabham will attend the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed, 3-5 July, where he will be reunited with the race winning Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. Attending the event in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his father Sir Jack’s first Formula One World Championship title, the international sportscar star will also drive a 1959 Cooper Climax T51 up Goodwood Hill and introduce the 50th anniversary merchandise collection.

A regular stalwart of the prestigious Goodwood event, Brabham returns to the 2009 Festival of Speed just weeks after clinching outright victory at Le Mans at his 16th attempt, securing a hat-trick of consecutive class wins at the world’s most famous endurance race. As the current LMP1 American Le Mans Series leader, Brabham’s usual racing schedule with Patrón Highcroft Racing rarely allows him to drive in front of his home-country fans. His visit this year will be another highlight during what is turning out to be the most fitting celebration of his father’s legendary career. Brabham said: “This is an important year for the entire Brabham family and what a year it’s turning out to be for me. I can’t think of a better way to follow my memorable Le Mans victory than driving the Team Peugeot Total car on the historic hillclimb. “Equally as moving will be the chance to drive a Formula One car from my father’s era of racing, a 1959 Cooper T51 entered by Michael Delaney – the sister car to my father’s 1959 Monaco Grand Prix winning car. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and I know my father is disappointed that he cannot be here to see it himself.” Commenting on David Brabham’s participation at Goodwood, Festival of Speed founder the Earl of March said: “I am really thrilled to have the Le Mans-winning Peugeot 908 HDi FAP here at Goodwood, and have David reunited with the car just weeks after his victory in this year’s 24 hour race. It is also great that David achieved this fabulous victory in his father Jack’s anniversary year.” Never before has a merchandise range of any kind been officially made available by the Brabham family, meaning Festival of Speed visitors will be some of the first to buy items from the new collection which includes never seen before limited edition signed memorabilia. Quality clothing apparel in a befitting retro style will also be on offer with items such as jackets, polo shirts, t-shirts, fleeces and caps, all endorsed by the great man himself. Presented courtesy of Trakrange and www.f1tools.com, where the full Sir Jack Brabham range is available online, the stand will also reflect the family’s rich racing heritage, with merchandise items also available from the Patrón Highcroft Racing and Lamborghini collections. The youngest son of the triple Formula One World Champion will be visiting the Sir Jack Brabham stand throughout the weekend, in between his driving duties, to meet fans and sign autographs. The 2009 Festival of Speed will run from 3-5 July and will celebrate the true motor sport heroes that went the extra mile in the pursuit of victory. Motor racing legends and modern day stars are expected to line up alongside their friends and adversaries at the celebrated 1.16 mile hillclimb, in a tribute to great feats of endurance in competition. The selection of machinery at the 2009 Festival of Speed is expected to feature a sensational gathering of the world’s finest competition cars and motorcycles, each present to help an epic story of spellbinding performance.
