 In just 4 short years the help2help  charity has changed the lives of hundreds of Cambodian villagers. It’s also changed the lives of hundreds of dedicated club volunteers who provide hands-on assistance, fundraising and support to the charity which was founded by Barrington Director Blayne Webb and his wife Faye in 2012.But the help2help initiative has impacted none more so than Tanya Hill, Operations and Gaming Manager form Tweed Heads Bowling Club.  Next month Tanya heads off indefinitely to live in Cambodia and to take charge of the Hospitably

Club Rivers staff take part in Walk2School charity event in Cambodia

TWO staff members from Riverwood’s Club Rivers are helping to bring education to rural Cambodia by taking part in the Walk2School charity event.Melissa Unicombe and Lana Gray are walking 100km from the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh to Siem Reap.The walk starts today and ends next Saturday.The pair is part of a group who will also distribute food and school aid packages to families along the route.The walk also aims to raise money for Australian charity Help2Help to build a school in rural Cambodia.“I feel so privileged to be representing Club Rivers and to be able to provide help

Pig Project Update

Just back from a fantastic trip to Cambodia. We have recently delivered 60 pigs under the Pig Project, food aid given out to a number of villages in dire need, new projects planned including water resources, catfish ponds, a pig farm and planning for the 2013 Walk2School fundraiser between Phnom Penh and Krabie Real. Pig Project

In the past funds were given to some young locals in the village of Kra Bie Real to purchase industrial sewing machines – they set up a local tailor shop and repaid the money hence generating jobs in the village. Going forward instead of sending school uniforms to Cambodia we intend to send wads of material and the newly skilled tailors will make the uniforms.Everything our charity is doing is attempting to make villagers self-sufficient and having the ability to control their futures. A Step In The Right Direction

Whilst delivering food packages to the poorest of villagers in Kampong Kdei we were touched by the abject poverty in which a great majority of villagers live. We came across an elderly woman who lived in nothing more than an open air shack with her daughter and grandchild. Following her blind and disabled daughter’s brutal rape some time ago this woman has been forced to provide care on a daily basis for her grandson born of that act. Without a capacity for work, survival is a daily battle with food scarce. Food packages costing $7.00 AUD per week are being provided to this woman.
