Hemsö is expanding its portfolio and acquiring a nursing home in Brandenburg an der Havel in Germany. The investment amount is EUR 19.8 million.

The nursing home is located west of Berlin in the state of Brandenburg. The home has 124 beds, comprising 58 single rooms and 33 double rooms. There are also ten assisted-living apartments, 12 intensive care rooms and one physiotherapy unit.

“We have broadened our acquisition strategy in recent years to include educational institutions such as schools and sports centres, but our core business in Germany is still health care and elderly care properties. We now have a total of 72 properties in the elderly care segment,” says Jens Nagel, Head of Region, Germany at Hemsö.

The building is over 140 years old and is a heritage listed property. The careful refurbishment has created a modern and well-functioning care home. Sustainable building elements such as natural stone floors and internal insulation with wood fibre boards give the home a modern look.

The rental duration is 17 years and the tenant is RENAFAN.

Hemsö’s total German portfolio of 85 properties in nursing homes, education and the justice system comprises approximately 460,000 sqm.
