Hemsö and Senate Properties have signed a new 15-year lease agreement comprising 31,000 square meters for the judicial administration's existing premises in the Helsinki Court House in Salmisaari.

Senate Properties is responsible for the premises of the Finnish state and sub-lets the premises in the Helsinki Court House to the Ministry of Justice, the Courts Agency, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Office of the Prosecutor General, which are different entities within the judicial administration. The judicial administration has a total of 31,000 square meters at its disposal.

– The Helsinki Court House is our largest property in Finland. We can now continue to develop the property so that the premises best meet the needs of the judicial administration for a long time to come. We have already implemented several improvement measures in the building. An extensive energy renovation has reduced energy use and emissions considerably, says Mikko Salla, Head of Asset Management Finland at Hemsö.

The building, which was completed in 1940, was designed by architect Väinö Vähäkallio. Hemsö acquired the property in 2019, and the Helsinki Court House has operated in the premises since 2004. In Finland, Hemsö also owns the Hämeenlinna Court House.
