Hemsö develops a nursing home in Essen for the Red Cross
Hemsö develops a new nursing home and a short-term assisted living facility with a lettable area of 6,000 square meters with 116 places in the city of Essen, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. A 20-year lease agreement has been signed with DRK-Kreisverband Essen e.V., a part of the German Red Cross. The investment amounts to EUR 22 million.
DRK-Kreisverband Essen e.V. has been operating in Essen for over 135 years. Like most local associations within the German Red Cross, the association in Essen is both a national aid organization and an operator of social services such as care and elderly services.
– The project in Essen is one of several new development projects that Hemsö is carrying out in Germany. The need for new social infrastructure is great in Germany, and we are pleased to contribute with the much-needed new nursing home places. We look forward to starting the project in Essen and expanding our cooperation with the German Red Cross, says Jens Nagel, Head of Region Germany at Hemsö.
Construction is scheduled to start in October 2024, with completion expected in early 2026. The nursing home will be environmentally certified according to DGNB Silver.
