Hemsö has been awarded a municipal school project outside Berlin
The City of Ragnsdorf, just outside Berlin, has chosen Hemsö in a public procurement to develop a new secondary school of 8,000 square meters. A 20-year lease has been signed with the municipality. The investment amounts to EUR 47 million.
The project includes a secondary school for 220 students, a sports hall to be used by both the school and associations, a youth center and a sports field. The sports field and schoolyard cover a land area of 36,000 square meters.
The school will be built in three stories. An additional building with changing rooms will be constructed adjacent to the school. The land allows for an expansion of 600 square meters, which means school places for an additional 110 students. In the vicinity of the school, plans are being made for the construction of 1 200 homes. The increased student base that comes with the new housing can be met by the school through a future expansion.
– This is Hemsö's second school project in Germany. The fact that the City of Ragnsdorf chose Hemsö in a public procurement shows that our offer is attractive. Hemsö has completed many school projects in Sweden and Finland and has solid competence in developing schools. We are currently in dialogue with municipalities across the country to develop or renovate schools, says Jens Nagel, Head of Region Germany, Hemsö.
The project will be certified according to DGNB Gold. Construction is scheduled to start during the spring of 2025 and completion is expected by the summer of 2026.
