Hemtex is maintaining its very strong leading position in the Swedish market for home textiles. Measured over the most recent 12-month period (April 2006 – March 2007), Hemtex’s market share rose to 31.3%, compared with 26.9% during the period April 2005 – March 2006. The closest competitor had a market share of just over 10%.

During the first quarter of 2007, however, Hemtex’s market share declined slightly to 29.1% (30.8) in a market whose value rose by 6%. These figures were taken from the latest survey from market research company GfK.

“The trend for bed and bath linen was strong during the first quarter, while that for curtains and towels was weaker. At the same time, our strong position in Sweden and the high growth rate we noted last year mean that the demands on us are rising,” says Hemtex President and Chief Executive Officer, Anders Jansson, adding:

“We are pursuing a distinct growth strategy based on the establishment of own stores, a broadening of the product range and the launch of new store formats. This strategy of achieving growth on several levels, combined with our distinct focus on product groups offering scope for increasing our market shares, has been and continues to be the key to our success.”
