Hemtex, the leading home textile chain in the Nordic region, maintained its strong position as the leader in the Swedish market for home textiles in 2007.

For full-year 2007, Hemtex accounted for 28.4 percent of the total market, which was 2.7 percentage points lower than the all-time high of a full 31.1 percent noted in 2006. This was shown by the latest survey from market research company GfK.

Hemtex’s market share developed less satisfactorily during the second half of the year and amounted to 26.9 percent (31.7). At the same time, the figures show that the Swedish home textile market grew about 7 percent during the year, with a slowdown in the growth rate occurring during the final quarter. Hemtex’s market share in the first half of the year was 30.5 percent (31.0).

“We lost some ground in areas where we had previously acted distinctly to offer both volume goods and a flow of new products. The weaker trend during the autumn can be attributed to both excessive volumes of goods, which resulted in disturbances in the flow of goods to stores, and to the way the stores handled our range of products. Distinct design content, a continuous flow of new products and inspirational stores are key success factors and areas on which we will be focusing seriously during 2008”, says Hemtex President, Anders Jansson.

Hemtex’s interim report for May 2007 – January 2008 will be published on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
The Year-end Report for 2007/2008 will be published on June 12, 2008.
