During the first half of 2007 Hemtex, the leading home textile retail chain in the Nordic region, continued to note a strong sales trend in the Swedish market for home textiles. This is confirmed by the latest figures from the market research company GfK, which show that Hemtex’s market share amounted to 30.5 percent for the spring season, the January–June 2007 period. According to GfK, the market rose by 7.5 percentage points compared with the year-earlier period.

“We have defended our market shares in Sweden and during the past 12-month period have reached a share of 31.5 percent of the home textile market. During the spring, we noted a favorable trend for quilts and pillows, as well as bath and hand towels. In addition to the successes noted in the home textile segment, we have also achieved a market share for bathrobes that is in line with our share of the home textile market,” says Hemtex President, Anders Jansson.

Broadened range ahead of the autumn
Continued successes within the home textile segment, which is the core of the company’s business, provide a solid foundation for our campaigns to broaden the product range ahead of autumn 2007. In addition to broadening the existing stores, we will be opening our two first volume stores, Hemtex & More, in Stockholm on October 25. Hemtex & More, which will have retail space of 700–1,000 square meters, will offer a considerable broader and larger range of products for the home, compared with what customers are accustomed to. Compared with June 2006, Hemtex has added 16 stores in the Swedish market and a further 20 stores abroad.

Hemtex’s interim report for the period May – July 2007 will be published on Wednesday, September 5, 2007.
