Red Bull’s 2022 Dual Ascent challenge has this year been supported by Hilti, with the global construction brand providing all anchors and tools to create a challenging dam climbing route for some of the world’s bravest adventurists.

Taking place at Verzasca Dam in Switzerland from October 26th to the 29th, the Red Bull Dual Ascent is a man-made solution to outdoor climbing competitions, which are often difficult to organise due to real-world conditions and variables with the route, logistics and impact on the environment.

Standing at 220m high, the jaw-droppingly impressive Verzasca Dam allows competitors to climb to heights of 180m, around 3x as high as standard climbing walls at indoor gyms.

This will be the first-ever head-to-head multi-pitch climbing competition on identical, artificial routes, and 16 of world’s top climbers have been invited to participate, competing in teams of two, over three days.

Various tools from Hilti’s newly launched Nuron roster were used to create the dam climbing route including:

Other solutions used included over 5000 chemical anchors to keep handholds, footholds and other items in place.
