The construction industry faces a big challenge: over the last 70 years productivity has been stagnant. To address this productivity growth gap compared to other sectors of the economy, more and more construction firms are increasingly looking at digital tools. The adoption of, and openness for, innovative technologies and software is increasing fast; this is a clear long-term trend that the recent pandemic further accelerated. However, customers implement many different digital solutions to solve specific problems, but these applications hardly interact with one another, leading to frustrations and adoption barriers for new technologies. If software solutions were highly integrated and data were not closed in silos, customers would not only enjoy improved data quality but also be able to make better use of the applications they adopted. As a result, they could make more informed decisions and improve their productivity.

Hilti is committed to bringing cutting-edge productivity solutions to contractors, such as the recently announced acquisition of the project management software Fieldwire, the partnership with Trackunit in the heavy equipment telematics space, and the launch of a new 22v tool battery platform with Data Drive Services part of the standard offering. Hlti is also offering software solutions for contractors and is a true believer in open digital ecosystems that support customers’ productivity. One of these software solutions that have been supporting customers since 2015 is ON!Track. This advanced solution for managing construction assets anytime, anywhere has been simplifying processes and workflows for customers across the world. To stay at the forefront of innovation and address the increasing need for seamless data exchange, Hilti is now introducing ON!Track Unite, a new open API for software integration. That, along with the open API from Fieldwire and the Fieldwire/ON!Track integration enables data to flow from the field to the office and across other customers’ applications (mainly construction business management software also referred to as construction Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP).

The open API facilitates seamless exchange of data between ON!Track, Fieldwire, and a wide range of other applications that customers use to run their businesses. Customers can use off-the-shelf integrations available on the marketplace, or create their own integrations in a flexible manner by leveraging the ON!Track Unite open API. Developers can rely on guidance and modern API documentation on the ON!Track Unite Hub to easily build scalable integrations. Relevant construction software players can offer to joint customers a pre-built integration between ON!Track and the application they develop or distribute, and be listed on the integration marketplace. The marketplace already includes many integrations, such as the one with Fieldwire and Procore.

Rainer Ringgenberg, General Manager for GB and Head of Region Northern Europe said that “Hilti invests in software as a way to increase customer productivity, and customers expect us to provide options to integrate other software products. With the launch of ON!Track Unite our customers can truly take productivity to new heights, while keep relying on a solution at the forefront of innovation. ON!Track is one of the very few asset management solutions which offers such an advanced open API portfolio and integration marketplace. The large ON!Track customer base and the pressing customers’ need for integrations are also a great opportunity for offering integrations with Hilti software. For us, this launch represents a key piece of the open ecosystem of integrated applications that we are expanding, and it strengthens Hilti’s leadership in the digital construction space.”

ON!Track Unite avoids customers the pain of duplicating manual data entries, helps to correctly allocate asset and consumables costs, and opens the door to increased tool crib transparency. In addition to this, the newly launched Nuron 22 Volt battery platform sends to the cloud during every charge, securely and automatically, data related to tool usage, tool utilization, charging location, and battery health. This offers actionable insights that can be accessed on mobile and desktop via Hilti’s ON!Track software platform, as well as relevant tool data will be accessible via ON!Track Unite open API in the near future.

As a conclusion, Hilti strongly believes in open platforms and ecosystems to simplify customers’ operations and increase their productivity; the introduction of ON!Track Unite goes exactly in this direction. After a successful beta-testing phase that started in 2021, ON!Track Unite will be launched in the Northern American, UK & Ireland, and Nordic markets in June 2022 and will be soon made available to the rest of the world throughout 2023.
