HiQ ADVANCES ITS POSITION WITHIN SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES
HiQ has signed a new partner agreement with a world-leading supplier within active safety, which includes establishment and expansion within Autonomous Drive – the technology behind self-driving vehicles. The partnership will for example focus on the world’s first large-scale pilot project for autonomous driving, DriveMe, in which 100 self-driving Volvo cars will be tested in Gothenburg.
The partnership will involve a targeted recruitment drive in Linköping and Gothenburg, in which the joint aim is to employ 30 engineers, 15 in each city, with an emphasis on active safety, image processing, sensor fusion, and self-driving vehicles.
Today HiQ has around 300 product development specialists with a focus on Automotive. Working with a number of global vehicle manufacturers and system suppliers, HiQ has been building its leading market position for 20 years.
”Our partner is in the middle of an exciting technology development within active safety solutions, in which HiQ’s technical know-how and experience can contribute to creating the next standard for the self-driving cars of the future,” says Patrik Holm, Managing Director at HiQ in Linköping and Norrköping. ”We look forward to carrying out exciting development projects at the forefront of technology, and we now need to expand our teams with more talented engineers.”
HiQ operates within the entire chain from innovation and product development to implementation. In addition to client projects within active safety and connected vehicles, HiQ has been an active participant in research projects such as ”Non-Hit Car & Truck” and ”Virtual Prototyping and Assessment by Simulation”.
”This is an unique collaboration around self-driving vehicles in which HiQ’s three core areas; active safety, infotainment and connected vehicles, are coming together in the same development project for the first time,” says Jerker Lindstén, Managing Director at HiQ in Gothenburg. ”It feels great to contribute to a development that simplifies and creates a safer and better everyday life for people.”
