HiQ BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY AS ”VÅRDEN I SIFFROR” REACHES THE PUBLIC

“Vården i siffror” (“Healthcare in numbers”) presents a variety of statistics and results within Swedish healthcare and includes all 21 county councils. Now, large parts of the service are opened up for the public. For the client SALAR, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, HiQ is responsible for development and administration of the service.

Up until now “Vården i siffror” has mainly been a tool for the management levels within county councils, regions and healthcare units. Now it will also be possible for you as a private citizen, a journalist, or a politician to easily access the healthcare statistics, with the help of interactive tools. The figures can for example be about the results of a certain type of care, or about the waiting time for a specific treatment.

“The idea of an open publication of different indicators is to create increased transparency and discussion regarding the quality of healthcare in Sweden. Which in turn can lead to more quality and improvement activities out in the field,” says Emma Vintemon, project manager at SALAR.

The information in ”Vården i siffror” is obtained from National Quality Registries as well as from the National Board of Health and Welfare, SALAR, and county specific databases. A total of 47 registers are linked to ”Vården i siffror” and the service contains data from all county councils, 81 hospitals, and 1,486 healthcare units. The service also enables comparisons of data between the different county councils, regions and healthcare units.

“Vården i siffror” is an important project with a focus on security and usability, and we have built the solution according to national standards for information provision. We have a good collaboration with SKL and we are looking forward to the continued development. Opening up the service to the public is fully in line with HiQ’s motivation: to simplify and improve people’s lives,” says Patrik Wahlberg, client manager at HiQ.

“As all other industries, the healthcare segment is affected by digitalisation and the huge possibilities to innovate and improve for patients, healthcare providers and decision makers. We are on the right path in our long-term undertaking to simplify healthcare – an important area that concerns all of us,” Lars Stugemo, President and CEO of HiQ concludes.
