HiQ is helping BorgWarner in Landskrona, Sweden, to save lives by improving and simplifying the task of driving. The new four-wheel drive system being developed in Landskrona can be easily adapted to meet the different needs of all vehicle manufacturers and is the leader in its field.

“Sweden still has a long way to go to achieve the aims of its Vision Zero initiative – namely that no one should be killed or seriously injured on the country’s roads. The potential to use onboard technology to help drivers cope with unexpected traffic hazards such as black ice or animals on the road is one obvious way to move closer to Vision Zero’s goal. It’s a fantastic feeling to be part of the work of creating systems that improve road safety worldwide,” says Anna Kleine, Managing Director of HiQ in Skåne.

BorgWarner is behind the world renowned four-wheel drive system that enhances the cars’ driving ability and improves security. The system is based on a Swedish innovation, the Haldex clutch.

“Our four-wheel drive system is already in use worldwide in a range of well-known marques and brands including Audi, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Volkswagen, Range Rover, Volvo, Cadillac, Opel and Skoda. We now felt the need of a partner who could complement our own competence in this field, and so far we are delighted with the way our collaboration with HiQ has progressed,” says Dag Öresjö, Development Manager for Electronics and Software at BorgWarner.

“We attach a great deal of importance to the work being done in active safety. It saves lives and simplifies the task of driving. Today we are working with a broad spectrum of clients in the automotive industry as it is becoming increasingly dependent on integrated IT solutions,” says Lars Stugemo, President and CEO of HiQ.

BorgWarner is a technology leader in highly engineered components and systems for powertrain applications worldwide. Operating manufacturing and technical facilities in 57 locations in 19 countries, the company develops products to improve fuel economy, reduce emissions and enhance performance. BorgWarner has a legacy of more than 100 years as an industry innovator in transmission and all-wheel drive technology.
