HiQ creates a new Energy Reporting Service for the customers of Porvoon Energia (Porvoo Energy) and Kerava Energy making it easier to monitor their electricity consumption.

With HiQ’s Energy Reporting service, Porvoon Energia Oy and Kerava Energy Ltd can, for the first time, offer private customers an easy way to monitor their electricity consumption. The service utilises the latest cloud technologies, and it will be available to customers in early summer 2012. HiQ’s reporting service allows the customers to easily obtain the information in an understandable, user-friendly manner.

Consumers and companies want real-time information about their electricity consumption, so that they can, for example, control the energy costs by adjusting their consumption. Modern consumers have increased energy awareness and a need to compare electricity companies. The reporting is the first step in our collaboration project of providing our customers with useful electronic services”, says Patrick Wackström, Managing Director of Porvoon Energia.

HiQ’s Energy Reporting Service can be tailored with additional functionalities, for instance, for managing a contract or moving process. It helps the customer to understand information about his or her energy consumption. Electricity consumption can be monitored on a monthly, weekly, or daily basis hour by hour.

“The services are becoming multi-channeled, and the share of electronic self-services is growing strongly. The tightening competition requires that we offer new services to our customers. The Energy Reporting Service also creates a flexible path for the future development of other electronic services”, says Jussi Lehto, Managing Director of Kerava Energy.

HiQ’s service operates in a cloud with the Microsoft Azure Services Platform. It is also possible to implement mobile user interfaces for the reporting service and to develop applications for different platforms, such as Windows Phone 7, Android, or iPhone.

“As a scalable environment, the Windows Azure Services Platform can be flexibly adapted, especially for consumer use. HiQ’s Energy Reporting Service utilises the reliability and security of the platform”, says Juha Karppinen, Business Director of Microsoft.

We are extremely proud to be able to work with such service-oriented companies as Porvoo Energy and Kerava Energy. With their energy know-how and our expertise in e-commerce we are able to create service that really makes people´s lives simpler”, says Jukka Rautio, managing director of HiQ Finland.
