HiQ helps Finnish Diaconia University of Applied Sciences (Diak) to improve both internal and external communication. HiQ will be providing an electronic communications and workspace solution to facilitate the work of the university’s staff working from across Finland. In addition HiQ renovates Diak’s public online service.

Diak, one of Finland’s largest educator in the field of social services aims to renew its internal and external communication with a new electronic workspace and a new public online service. The new intranet service improves the efficiency of the staff’s daily work.

“We were looking for a comprehensive solution that, in addition to the traditional communication and information services, would offer our staff a channel for efficient interaction, as well as tools for networking”, says Tommi Kangasaho, CIO at Diak.

HiQ is also in charge of implementation of Diak’s public online service from background research to usability consulting.

“One key aspect of this project was user experience; we wanted to create modern electronic services that are easy to use and that encourage their active utilisation by the various interest groups. HiQ offered us the right expertise in all stages of the project. The end result is a user-oriented solution with the Diak look and feel”, Kangasaho continues.

“We started the project by focusing on finding the most efficient solutions that would be the easiest to use and maintain. Our objective was to create a modern tool to simplify daily work and an online service that would meet Diak’s needs today as well as in the future, says Jukka Rautio”, Managing Director at HiQ Finland.

Diaconia University of Applied Sciences is a private, national university of applied sciences. Diak provides high-quality education in the field of welfare services with degree programmes in social services, nursing, sign language interpreting, and community interpreting, and an English-language degree programme in social services.  Diak has approximately 3,000 students and 300 full-time employees.
