SCAN TO SPIN OFF BUSINESS UNITS IN SWEDEN
Scan AB in Sweden is making headway with its efficiency programme. In June, the
company divided its business into two profit centres, the Meat Business and the
Processed Meat and Convenience Food Business. Now the profit centres will be
spun off as subsidiaries. Both newly incorporated subsidiaries will assume
responsibility for their own production, sales and marketing. In future, the
companies will be developed according to their individual needs and with regard
to the overall Swedish market.
The purpose of the arrangement is to improve profitability through greater
efficiency. The business split will provide resources for the development of a
customer-driven operating model and better utilisation of the Scan brand,
especially in the processed meat and convenience food business. In future, the
company will be able to offer its customers the services of skilled,
specialised partners.
The spin-off will have no impact on the standing or duties of other Scan
subsidiaries.
Mr Mikael Mörk, vice president of Scan's Meat Business, has been appointed
managing director of the new meat company. The managing director of the new
processed meat and convenience food company will be Mr Denis Mattsson, who most
recently served as president of the Food Division at Raisio Plc. Mr Magnus
Lagergren remains managing director of Scan AB.
Scan AB is responsible for HKScan Group's business operations in Sweden.
