Hufvudstaden welcomes Pantamera to Hötorget

Soon during autumn, Stockholm’s first packaging deposit return point will open in Hötorget’s metro station in central Stockholm at the intersection of Kungsgatan and Sveavägen. Returpack/Pantamera has developed this new concept to improve service to Stockholm residents and to relieve pressure on city centre stores that currently have difficulty handling large volumes of bottle and can returns.

The new deposit point at Hötorget will make it easier for those with large amounts of packaging in particular, with refunds paid out either directly to bank accounts or as cash, or donated to charity.

“At Pantamera, we work continuously to make deposit returns easier and more accessible. Our new deposit point is an important complement to those stores in central Stockholm that currently struggle to accept large amounts of returns. Its great location also provides us with the opportunity to tell people who return packaging what environmental heroes they are and highlight our climate-smart deposit system,” says Bengt Lagerman, Returpack/Pantamera CEO.

The facility will occupy a space of 240sqm and will have the same opening times as stores in the area.

We’re happy to have central Stockholm’s first deposit return point on one of our premises. Pantamera gains a shop window to the people of Stockholm and in addition to their efforts, I hope that their presence reminds us all to make sustainable choices on a daily basis and to always recycle packaging whenever possible,” says Emanuel Westin, Head of Business Development, Retail at Hufvudstaden.

Returpack/Pantamera is a private company owned by the Swedish Brewers Association, the Swedish Food Retailers Association, and Sweden’s grocers association. Together, they operate Sweden’s only approved deposit recycling system for beverage packaging.
