New market hall at NK in Stockholm As part of the plan to make NK a world-class department store, a market hall is being created along the lines adopted in other parts of the world. The "NK Market Hall", which will be completed in autumn 2002, is being created in collaboration with ICA. This marks the beginning of an extensive reconstruction of the whole of the lower floor of NK. The lower floor is an important part of the development of the entire NK department store. "Hufvudstaden, the owner of NK, takes a very positive view of future co- operation with ICA. NK and ICA are two of Sweden's most well-known brand names, which makes this venture particularly gratifying," states Håkan Steinbüchel, head of the NK business area. "ICA will invest in the creation of something that is unique for Sweden. The focus will be on perishables and convenience food," says Mats Larsson, regional manager of ICA Handlarnas AB.
