Hyundai Motor Company is the official car partner of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 to be held in Australia from August 11 to 26, part of Hyundai’s close and ongoing relationship with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The one-day tournament Down Under brings together under-19 stars of one of the world’s most popular sports.

During the tournament, Hyundai Motor Company Australia will provide 38 vehicles, including the multi-award winning iMax people mover (known as H-1 in some markets), the stylish i45 sedan (Sonata), Santa Fe and the versatile i40 Tourer. The vehicles will bear a unique tournament insignia, and will be used to transport ICC and Cricket Australia officials and international team managers.

The official handover ceremony took place on August 10 at the Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville. Edward Lee, CEO of Hyundai Motor Company Australia, and Andrew Symonds, an Ambassador for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 and Australian cricket legend attended the event.

Hyundai Motor Company Australia is offering fans a chance to win a round-trip for two to Sri Lanka to watch the ICC World Twenty20 2012 Grand Final. Fans can visit www.facebook.com/HyundaiAustralia to enter and try their luck at an online batting game.

“Cricket has long been an Australian obsession during the summer months,” said Edward Lee, Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s CEO. “ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 is a great opportunity for us to combine a nation’s passion with Hyundai’s dedication to sport in Australia. We are delighted to be associated with such a high profile international tournament.”

“It’s great to be involved with the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012,” said Andrew Symonds, an Ambassador for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012. “Having played in U19 cricket myself, I know how exciting and important it is for these young players competing at this event. It’s great to see Hyundai getting involved in this great game.”

Billed as the “finishing school” for cricket stars of the future, the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup features teams from Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Namibia, Afghanistan and Nepal.

The sponsorship of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 is part of Hyundai’s global relationship with cricket, which began in 2011, when Hyundai signed on as the ICC Cricket World Cup’s Official Car Partner. Hyundai’s sponsorship extends into 2015.

Through sponsorship activities such as its relationship with ICC cricket, Hyundai is raising its global brand status. Hyundai’s most recent global brand campaign, “Live Brilliant,” seeks to capture life’s brilliant moments, whether they happen in a Hyundai vehicle or on a cricket pitch.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will be the 11th edition of the tournament and will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
