Hyundai Provides Vehicles for UEFA EURO 2012™, Unveils Fan-Inspired National Team Buses
- EURO officials, guests to ride in 366 Hyundai cars
- Vehicles include luxury Equus and Genesis; new-generation i30 designed for Europe
- National team buses wrapped with fan-created slogans
Hyundai Motor announced today that it will provide 366 of its most exciting vehicles for use by UEFA EURO 2012™ officials, guests and others during the matches next month in Poland and Ukraine.
During the handover ceremony at Poland’s National Stadium in Warsaw, the company unveiled the official national team buses, each one wrapped with a fan-created slogan cheering on the teams of the 16 participating nations. Hyundai’s “Be There With Hyundai” contest allowed fans to submit slogans to adorn the national team buses. Fans began submitting slogans in December and the 16 winners were announced on May 7.
“Football conveys dynamism, excitement and passion,” said Hyundai Motor Europe President Terry Im. “These are precisely the emotions that Hyundai wants to share with our customers.”
“With only 23days to go before the tournament begins, the vehicle handover is a key milestone in the preparation for UEFA EURO 2012™,” said Guy-Laurent Epstein, Marketing Director, UEFA Events SA. “Recognized as a leading global maker of stylish, reliable and comfortable vehicles, Hyundai will contribute to the tournament organization by providing teams, officials and guests with high quality transportation.”
Attending the handover ceremony were officials from Hyundai Motor, UEFA and the local organizing committee.
To support the UEFA EURO 2012™ matches next month, Hyundai will hand over the following models: Equus, Genesis, ix55, Santa Fe, ix35, i40, Sonata, Elantra and the new-generation i30. In addition, Hyundai will provide more than 200 H1 vans.
Highlighting the handover were Hyundai’s luxury vehicles and the top performers of its European i-series, cars designed in Europe for European motorists.
Equus and Genesis are Hyundai’s top-of-the-line rear-wheel-drive luxury vehicles. New-generation i30, which debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show in September, is the newest version of Hyundai’s biggest-selling car in Europe, and is joined by i40, Hyundai’s European flagship.
The UEFA EURO 2012™ kicks off on June 8 and concludes on July 1. Hyundai is an official automotive sponsor of UEFA EURO 2012™ and has sponsored the UEFA EURO™ tournament since 2000.
1) Team Hyundai
Hyundai is proud to present five top football players as brand ambassadors for the UEFA EURO 2012™: Iker Casillas (Spain), Lukas Podolski (Germany), Giuseppe Rossi (Italy), Karim Benzema (France) and Daniel Sturridge (England).
The five ambassadors will be rivals on the field during EURO 2012, but they are united by their passion for football. Their determination and talent sets them apart on the field, and every Team Hyundai player has the potential to be a game changer during this year’s tournament.
The Team Hyundai launching event, held in Frankfurt on March 15, 2012, marked the start of their activities. Team Hyundai will be the center of Hyundai’s EURO 2012 marketing campaign, with their use in TV commercials, out-of-home advertising, print advertising and various on- and off-line activities.
2) Make a Pledge
Hyundai is serious about supporting people to realize their ambitions to become game-changers of the future.
Football fans and followers of Hyundai are invited to participate in the project, reflecting our commitment to always engage in a way that reflects the spirit of the game – through openness and inclusion.
By entering the dedicated application on Hyundai’s global Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Hyundaiworldwide), football fans are encouraged to make their pledge.
For each pledge, Hyundai will donate €1, and Hyundai’s total donation of €250,000 will be made to support the game-changers of the future.
3) EURO Test Drive
Before and during the EURO 2012, Hyundai’s local distributors are open for test drives of Hyundai’s wide range of models. Customers can test-drive Hyundai’s exciting new-generation i30, a car designed in Europe for Europeans. About 500 match tickets and 120 hospitality packages for the EURO 2012 tournament will be handed out to those who participate in this program. Customers can enhance their tournament experience by writing messages on large Team Hyundai uniforms.
4) Hyundai Fan Park
Football fans of the world are invited to visit Hyundai Fan Parks where they can cheer on their team with friends and family while watching the matches live on big screens. In addition, they can enjoy a wide range of activities, including a skills competition, the Digital Goodwill Ball, 3D graffiti and get a look at the latest Hyundai cars.
Hyundai Fan Parks will be held in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Czech Republic and Russia.

5) Hyundai Predictor
The Hyundai Predictor is the ultimate one-page prediction game on UEFA.com. Fans can enter their results of each EURO 2012 match to guess which teams will advance to the last eight, final four and all the way to the final.
Hyundai offers fans the chance to win exciting prizes, including autographed jerseys of Team Hyundai players.
6) Be There With Hyundai
The slogan contest program, “Be There With Hyundai,” has enjoyed increasing popularity since its introduction at EURO 2004.
Hyundai gave football fans a unique chance to support and cheer on their teams by participating in a team slogan contest. The winning slogans will be used to decorate the national team buses.
As a prize, the winner from each country will be invited to Hyundai’s hospitality program, held in Gdansk, Poland, during the quarterfinal match.
