IAR Systems adds Eclipse Support to Development tools for Renesas RL78
Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, CA—May 3, 2011—IAR Systems® today announced the availability of a plugin to Eclipse for Renesas RL78 development tools. This new plugin includes the optimizing IAR C/C++ Compiler, Assembler and Linker, as well as all needed C/C++ libraries. It also supports parsing of error messages and option settings from within Eclipse. The plugin allows Eclipse to be used as development environment while benefiting from the qualities of IAR Systems’ compiler tool chain.
While IAR Systems’ popular proprietary IDE, IAR Embedded Workbench®, is designed for embedded development and user friendliness, Eclipse offers extensibility through its openness and large ecosystem, allowing other tools to be integrated in the same environment. For developers and their organizations, this leaves a choice to which development environment best fit their particular needs.
IAR Systems is the first available software development tools for Renesas RL78 architecture, and the latest in a long line of tools covering the entire range of Renesas microcontrollers. With support for well over 2,800 Renesas microcontroller and microprocessor devices across 10 product families it is no exaggeration to say that the development tools provided by IAR Systems are the preferred ones for software development on Renesas microcontrollers, regardless of which IDE is being used.
