IBISWorld catches up with Barry S. Sziklay of Friedman LLP to find out firsthand what's going on within his industry

IW:  What challenge do you and Friedman LLP face right now?

BSS:  The area of the practice for which I am responsible is extremely broad and encompasses fraud and other forensic accounting engagements, litigation-support (litigation spans matrimonial, shareholder/partner disputes, contractual disputes of all sorts, securities and fiduciary litigation, tax litigation, etc.) and private-company valuation engagements of all sorts, ranging from transaction pricing, valuation for tax planning and compliance purposes, valuation for financial reporting purposes to valuation for litigation-support purposes.  A major challenge in our valuation practice is doing industry research and identifying comparable companies to the companies that we value.

IW:  How does IBISWorld help you overcome this challenge?

BSS:  IBISWorld provides wonderful industry insights which we find invaluable in our research efforts.

IW:  What do you foresee happening in your industry within the next year?

BSS:  Assuming that the economy slowly improves, I foresee more transactional valuation work.

IW:  Tell us something interesting about yourself.

BSS:  I am an avid boater.  I love fine wine and my wife and I love to travel.  I spent 10 years in the investment banking industry and still enjoy managing my own portfolio investments.
