ICA Gruppen outsources parts of IT operations to Infosys

ICA Gruppen has decided to outsource part of its IT operations. Following transition costs in 2015, this change will decrease costs in stages by approximately SEK 75 million starting from 2016 (compared with 2014). The outsourcing affects both IT infrastructure and application-related areas. Approximately 120 people at ICA Gruppen and ICA Sweden will be offered jobs with Infosys.

In addition to cost savings, the change is expected to provide better conditions for business development projects within IT. ICA previously outsourced part of its IT operations but as a result of the agreement with Infosys, ICA Gruppen is increasing the proportion of outsourcing from 20% to approximately 40%.

“The fact that we are now scaling up outsourcing is a key step in the development of our IT operations. With a strong and skilled IT partner, which knows our environment, we will create greater flexibility for new business requirements, be able to cope with rapid and major changes more easily and quickly, and be better able to support our businesses in their operational development,” says Sven Lindskog, CFO ICA Gruppen.

The outsourcing affects IT Services, within ICA Gruppen, which among other things provides IT infrastructure and group-wide IT services, and VUIT, Operational Development and IT, within ICA Sweden. ICA employees who work within the areas to be outsourced will be offered employment with Infosys. Infosys will also assume responsibility for some operations currently carried out by consultants.
