ICA Gruppen completed its first green bond issue in May 2023 and is today publishing the first report on how the SEK 3.5 billion which the issue amounted to has been allocated – Green Bond Report 2024. The report shows how the financing of projects made possible through ICA Gruppen’s green bonds is estimated to have contributed to reduced emissions in excess of 16,997 tonnes CO2 in 2023.

The funds from the issue have been used to finance projects within areas covered by ICA Gruppen’s Green Finance Framework: green buildings, renewable energy, clean transportation and eco-efficient products within the company’s own brand range.

“ICA Gruppen’s green bonds help to accelerate the transition of our operations and the achievement of our climate goals. During the year ICA Gruppen has taken key steps towards climate neutrality. For every million kronor invested in our green bond, emissions decreased by 4.86 tonnes CO2 and contributed to our continued transition towards sustainable raw materials.” says Kerstin Lindvall, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer at ICA Gruppen.

In May 2023, ICA Gruppen issued green bonds in a total nominal amount of SEK 3.5 billion. The issue attracted high demand and was more than 1.5 times oversubscribed. This was ICA Gruppen’s first green bond issue, which took place in line with the company’s Green Finance Framework which was established in spring 2023.

ICA Gruppen has long worked purposely to reduce its climate impact and the green framework enables green financing alternatives for ICA Gruppen’s continued sustainability efforts.

The report, which is only published in English, is available at www.icagruppen.se.
