FIENDISHLY FUN HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR AT BLACKPOOL ZOO!Children will be bewitched by the spooktacular array of events at Blackpool Zoo during Halloween half term! ….And tiger makes two at Blackpool Zoo!....Zambar the Amur Tiger is all smiles now his new mate has moved in at Blackpool Zoo! Alyona, who is four years old, arrived from her birthplace SafariparkBeekse Bergen in the Netherlands on Tuesday 18th September and is currently settling into her new home in the Big Cat house. Over the coming weeks Zambar and Alyona will be gradually introduced and keepers are hoping for the pitter patter of tiny stripy feet in the not-too-distant future. REINA AND DIAMANTE ARE ROYAL BANK HOLIDAY DEBUTANTES

Two of Blackpool Zoo’s  latest arrivals have been given Spanish names with a regal ring in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Reina, which is Spanish for Queen and Diamante, which means Diamond, are female Iberian Wolves who have just arrived from Woburn, where they were born last year. They are part of a pack of five, which also includes parents Diago and Dora and sister Carmen. HOP TO THE ZOO FOR FERRET AND LLAMA WALKS THIS EASTER

Taking ferrets and Llama on daily walks are just two elements of a grrrrreat programme of fun and educational activities at Blackpool Zoo this Easter. The hands on experiences will take place in the zoos’ Children’s Farm, from 11.00am until 4.00pm every day from March 31st to April 15th. Other eggciting events include petting bunnies, chicks and guinea pigs, donkey brushing and lots of opportunities to hand feed the residents. Woo at the Zoo this February

February will be a month long celebration of animal attraction at Blackpool Zoo! The half-term holiday, Valentine’s Day and the leap year tradition of female proposals on the 29th are being dubbed as the perfect time to ‘Woo at the Zoo’! For the first time ever, the zoo is giving the public the chance to officially pop the question with the boys getting the chance on Valentine’s Day and the girls on the 29th. After each of the 12.00pm and 2.00pm sea lion displays the selected person will be invited down to the front of the arena where they can propose in front of a 250 strong crowd!

LYNNE’S ‘TILE FOR A TIGER’ DOLL’S HOUSE

A disabled woman from Blackpool has spent two months building a doll’s house to donate to Blackpool Zoo for its 2012 fundraising efforts. Lynne Gorrie,who has very limited use of the right side of her body, has designed and built the delightful miniature wooden home and is hoping to raise money to save animals in South East Asia. During half term week visitors are being asked to buy one of the 550 roof tiles for just £1 to be in with a chance of winning the doll’s house and also having it decorated to suit their taste. HALF TERM HALLOWEEN HOWLS AT BLACKPOOL ZOO

Blackpool Zoo is really getting into the ‘spirit’ of Halloween with a half-term week packed with spooky activities. From Saturday 22nd to 30th October little ghouls and goblins can try their hand at pumpkin carving at 11.30am in the Children’s Farm. They’ll then get the chance to fill their creations with treats, which will be fed to the animals across the zoo. Pumpkins will also be hidden in animal enclosures and a fun trail to find them all will take place every day. KEEPERS AT THE DOUBLE FOR A COUPLE OF TWO HUMPED CALVES

Two critically endangered double humped Bactrian Camels are being hand-reared by specialist keepers at Blackpool Zoo. The male and female calves, which were born to Olivia and Lucy respectively, share the same father, Sid, and the same birthday. Zoo staff arrived at work on the morning of 6th May to find both had arrived safely and naturally during the night. Whilst Olivia didn’t have enough milk Lucy showed little interest in her calf, so specialist keepers moved them to a separate area to feed and rear them. HALF TERM ANIMAL ANTICS AT BLACKPOOL ZOO

Blackpool FC favourite Gary Taylor-Fletcher kick started the half term holiday by officially opening Blackpool Zoo’s fabulous new Children’s Farm. The enormous barn and extensive outdoor paddocks are now home to the zoo’s resident farm favourites - and lots of new faces too. HALF-TERM TREAT FOR ACHY FEET

Mums and dads who are run ragged in the half-term holidays can treat their achy feet with special offers from Yoko, the Gara Rufa Fish Spa experience, located within The Mall Blackburn.For one week only Yoko has set up a specially designed tank full of Gara Rufa fish at the Ask Me Point in the centre of The Mall. BLUE PETER SAILS INTO ACTIVE OCEANS AT BLACKPOOL ZOO

Classic children’s TV favourite Blue Peter will be sailing into Blackpool Zoo during the half-term holiday.Presenter Andy Akinwolere will be spending two days getting to grips with the zoo’s resident sea lions and mastering the basics of wowing a crowd in the public displays in the Active Oceans Arena. The footage will be aired on Blue Peter, which is the world’s longest running children’s TV programme.
