One of China’s largest metro network management companies optimizes its asset management with IFS Applications

IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Beijing Metro Network Administration (Beijing Metro Network), one of the largest state-owned metro network supervision and management companies in China, has deployed IFS Applications™ for complete asset lifecycle management to optimize the company’s assets.

With the strategy of transportation integration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regions taking effect, Beijing is about to usher in an era of integrated high-speed rail, intercity, suburban rail and underground rail. As the governmental command center of Beijing’s rail transportation, Beijing Metro Network will face increasingly rigorous requirements for intelligent management. In order to adapt to this epoch-making challenge while improving the level of management efficiency and operational safety, Beijing Metro Network decided to build a full asset lifecycle management platform to support its increasingly complex environment.

Following a comprehensive selection process, IFS was awarded the contract to supply a complete asset lifecycle management solution. Beijing Metro Network selected IFS due to its proven track record of delivering robust solutions to customers in the Chinese rail and transit industry, including Shanghai Metro, Wuhan Metro, Nanjing Metro, Chengdu Metro and Beijing Metro AFC. Another important factor was IFS’s intelligent management platform that integrates core business processes such as project management, document management and asset management into one platform with tools such as IoT and EOI to empower Beijing Metro Network with enhanced decision-making and enable accelerated operational efficiency.

Having concluded a successful implementation project, Beijing Metro Network is now using IFS Applications to manage all its assets and equipment. By aggregating and analyzing the data generated in processes such as maintenance, procurement and warehousing, Beijing Metro Network is able to execute more timely asset repair and maintenance, improve asset utilization, and reduce operational risks. The mutual integration of data has also simplified spare parts procurement and enabled the company to optimize its inventory levels. These improvements have greatly increased warehouse turnover and reduced inventory costs.

“IFS has a very deep understanding of our industry and highly advanced management philosophy,” said Mr. Li, project manager of Beijing Metro Network. “With its industry leading solution, IFS gives us real-time insight into the company's asset status, which helps us make informed decisions while becoming digitally connected. IFS Applications is an intuitive and efficient solution that empowers users through a very user-friendly interface. Its powerful functionalities have greatly improved our operational efficiency, standardized our core business processes, and helped us reach an industry-leading position when it comes to asset management.”

Peter Bornschein, General Manager of IFS in China, added, “We are pleased that Beijing Metro Network has deployed IFS Applications as its asset management platform. Our focus has always been to enable our customers to optimize efficiency throughout the value chain. With IFS Applications, Beijing Metro Network will benefit from robust, best-practice functionality delivered through an intuitive and elegant user experience.”
