IFS Applications™ 10 in the cloud to ensure global scalability as leading smart metering provider Kamstrup takes aim at global business expansion

London, June 13, 2019 – IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Kamstrup, one of the world’s leading suppliers of intelligent energy and water metering solutions, has decided to implement a comprehensive ERP solution from IFS throughout the organization to support its aggressive growth.

After an evaluation phase of almost a year, Kamstrup has selected IFS to deliver the group’s new ERP platform. Five suppliers were asked to participate in the evaluation, which concluded with IFS being selected. IFS will deliver a managed cloud solution that covers all key processes of the business, including supply chain, logistics, planning, sales, service, customer projects and finance.

The new ERP platform is a foundational project underlying Kamstrup’s strategy to increase sales to 10 DKK billion (US$ 1.5 billion) over a 10-year period. The current level is DKK 2.4 billion (US$ 345 million).

Kamstrup, which is 100 percent owned by Danish energy company OK has 1,500 employees in more than 20 countries worldwide. They provide intelligent meters, remote reading systems and analytical tools that help utilities reduce waste of energy and water and optimize their businesses.

“We are currently running a 25-year-old ERP platform that we have continuously developed ourselves and that does not support the future we envision,” said Peter Falden Jensen, Vice President of Group IT. “We were careful to choose an ERP suite with comprehensive capabilities out of the box that could keep up with our expansion plans and let us scale in a completely different way than previously. The business is rapidly transforming with increasingly globalized supply and dealer distribution chains, added services, etc. With IFS Applications, we are confident that we are getting a platform that can help the company grow, rather than slow us down.”

The switch to a standard platform is a major shift for Kamstrup. Jensen explained, “We have to get out of the habit of relying on potentially risky code modifications and instead see how the IFS solution, which is based on industry best practices and offers extensive options for user configuration, can inform and improve our business processes. That’s why it’s very important that the platform provides flexibility for our users to find their ideal way of working. We have great expectations in IFS Applications and in IFS as an implementation partner.”

When Kamstrup defined the 14 test areas against which ERP vendors were assessed, it was business managers and subject matter experts who selected the evaluation areas, not IT managers. It was also the company’s business managers who finally chose IFS Applications.

Jensen added, “Group IT was happy about the choice. Kamstrup has a very lean production that relies heavily on robotics and deep integration with ERP. We would like to make even greater use of ERP, and IFS has a very strong position in this area. We are particularly impressed with the system’s production logistics and IFS also differentiated itself from competitors with the user-friendliness of its IFS Lobby interface.

Elni Kullmer, IFS Managing Director, Nordics, said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Kamstrup and to support the company’s global expansion. This important customer win is further evidence of IFS’s leading position in the manufacturing space and we look forward to a rapid implementation project.”

IFS is currently being deployed for 700+ employees across the company’s international operations.
