Comprehensive IFS solution facilitates effective management of water and sewage infrastructure, failure management, and service activities

IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Otwockie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji (OPWiK) has updated its ERP system to IFS Applications™ 9 with the support of InfoConsulting, one of IFS’s partners in Poland.

Public utility OPWiK provides water supply and wastewater services in the city of Otwock and neighboring municipalities. Operating a state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant, the company invests continuously in the development and modernization of its infrastructure. Since 2012, the company has been using a comprehensive IT solution based on IFS Applications, including fully integrated third-party billing and GIS systems.

IFS Applications supports all key business processes, including laboratory management, public orders management, and service management. Thanks to the comprehensive integration with the GIS solution, IFS Applications is also used as the central engine for inspection and maintenance of OPWiK’s technical infrastructure.

The upgrade to IFS Applications 9 has empowered OPWiK to increase the efficiency of its organizational management, particularly in terms of customer service, maintenance of water and sewage network infrastructure, and project execution. The upgrade covered the areas of finance, distribution, maintenance as well as human resources and payroll.

“The upgrade of IFS Applications was carried out very efficiently. This was partly thanks to the experienced and competent InfoConsulting consultants, who have been working with us for several years and know the specifics of the water and sewage industry and users, and partly thanks to our OPWiK employees, who have put a lot of work and knowledge into this project, starting with the implementation of IFS Applications 7.5 and ending with the upgrade to version 9,” said Mieczysław Kostyra, OPWiK President. “The main outcome of this project is further integration and centralization of our business processes in all key areas. IFS Applications offers comprehensive support of all processes carried out in our company, from the moment a service order is created to the completion of the assignment.”

President of InfoConsulting Mirosław Kamiński added, "We are very pleased to conclude another successful IFS Applications upgrade, which allows further improvement of business processes at OPWiK. An important element of this project was the implementation of the GIS Integration module, which, using data captured in IFS Applications 9, facilitates effective management of water and sewage infrastructure, failure management, and service activities.”

President of IFS in Eastern Europe & Central Asia Marcin Taranek commented, “Energy and utilities is one of IFS’s targeted market segments. Since it was founded, IFS has developed and delivered best-practice industry solutions for the sector. We are pleased that OPWiK will continue to benefit from our stable and growing platform, which provides real business benefits in a competitive market.”
