Reinertsen, one of the leading Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contractors in the oil and gas industry in Nortern Europe, has selected parts of IFS Applications for EPCI Contractors for improved management, control, and quality of its onshore and offshore projects. Implementing the IFS solution is part of the group's growth strategy and the system will enable the company to prepare for new assignments among other activities.

Reinertsen was initially a pure engineering company that focused on pipelines in the oil and gas industry in Norway for example, but which has grown over the years to become one of the leading providers of consulting services and contracts. Today the group has over 2,000 employees and delivers full EPCI as well as maintenance and modification projects to, among other things, oil rigs and refineries all over Scandinavia and Russia. Reinertsen recently signed a framework contract with Statoil for the maintenance and modifications on the Norwegian shelf with a value of NKr 4 billion.

A project-oriented business, Reinertsen is dependent on being able to efficiently control risk, cost, liquidity, resources, and time. The solution from IFS includes IFS Engineering Register and IFS Asset Information Integration Manager, which gather all detailed engineering data centrally for use in processes such as procurement and for external data exchange. In addition, efficient reporting tools will be delivered to provide project status reports of the engineering data.

IFS Applications for EPCI Contractors supports business processes across engineering, contract management, project management, procurement, management of subcontractors, document management, finance, material management, assembly, personnel management, and after sales support. The solution also includes a CAD interface and standard integration with planning tools. With a single engineering solution Reinertsen will achieve better projects management, fewer errors, and a more productive and motivating working environment for its employees.

"We are now seeing clear signs in the oil and gas industry that the market is recovering from the recession. There are big new projects on the horizon starting this autumn, and with the industry solution IFS Applications for EPCI Contractors, we are well-prepared and will be able to deliver EPCI projects even more efficiently," says Geir Suul, director of business development of Reinertsen.

The implementation of the IFS solution is expected to be finished before the end of the 2010 and IFS consultants are currently working on the implementation and integration of IFS Applications within Reinertsen’s existing document management solution and logistics system.

"We chose IFS Applications because the system is built on an open, SOA-based architecture with separate components, making the implementation faster, cheaper, and easier than IFS’s competitor offerings. Furthermore, IFS has considerable knowledge of implementing and integrating, which was essential for the efficient deployment within our company," says Geir Suul.

"We have been working for many years with our customers in order to develop flexible solutions that have the functionality EPCI contractors need to streamline their activities and act quickly to meet market demands. The contract with Reinertsen confirms that we are on the right path", says Glenn Arnesen, managing director of IFS Scandinavia.

IFS strategically targets suppliers to the Oil & Gas industry and has delivered solutions to this sector for many years. The company offers a complete, integrated industry-specific solution that manages the entire project and asset lifecycle from engineering, project management, procurement, material management, and fabrication to installation. Customers include Grenland Group, Babcock Engineering Services, Heerema Fabrication Group, Semco Maritime, Apply Sørco, Dresser-Rand, STX Europe, Seadrill, Seawell, NCA, Hertel Group, Bergen Group Rosenberg, BWO, Hamworthy Gas Systems, and Harland and Wolff.
